1 year contract with extension




  • Utilize a strong understanding of PLC programming, electrical and controls systems to design and repair electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery
  • Serve as lead in developing and implementing strategies for targeted equipment improvements, utilizing new and existing automation and control technologies for both short and long-term solutions
  • Assist the maintenance and management team in process improvements while demonstrating and driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Interface with departments and outside electrical vendors to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Develops and evaluates alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements
  • Modifies program/system logic involving multiple systems and sub-systems
  • Develops proficiency in several programming languages and control device networks for PLCs and PCs
  • Servo design, development and troubleshooting experience of advanced motion control systems including multi axis, coordinated axis applications.
  • Independently performs design, development, and management of new equipment and processes; identifies and solves engineering problems
  • Make design improvements to existing products and manufacturing equipment.
  • Planning and managing projects according to timeline and budget
  • Conducting process analysis and root cause analysis for manufacturing processes
  • Identifies solution and concepts for engineering problems
  • Create layout design
  • Writing requirements and specification documents for new equipment and technologies
  • Designs validation/qualification protocols for routine use; suggests improvements
  • Independently conducts validation/qualification protocols (may be complex)
  • Assists in the planning & design of experiments
  • Independently analyzes data utilizing statistical methods
  • May participate in product development planning
  • Independently conducts engineering experiments (may be complex)
  • Advises supervisor of factors that may affect experiment; suggests additional experiments
  • Assist in developing new methods to use application engineering principles to model, prototype, and simulate new and existing processes
  • Assist in the design and implementation of  hardware and software and related instruments and processes
  • Participate on project teams to develop automated manufacturing equipment plans and objectives and to carry out the necessary effort 
  • Assess current manufacturing processes and recommend new automated technologies that will improve product quality, optimize the process and/or reduce production costs
  • Actively interface with the Manufacturing group and other departments (i.e., Tech Svcs., R&D and Marketing) in problem solving with regards to equipment and systems
  • Maintain records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience is required with experience in Biotech or Life Sciences
  • Experience with Labview, RSLogix 500. RSLogix 5000, HMI, Digital IO, Analog IO, Ethernet/IP, Devicenet, Beckhoff
  • Experience with wide variety of components servo motors, stepper motors, linear motors, piezoelectric motors, linear / rotary pneumatics, solenoids, robotics, Denso 6 axis robot, photoelectric sensors, optical sensors, ultrasonic sensors, vision sensors/systems, barcode readers, RFID, safety systems
  • Experience with instrument assembly, manufacturing, and testing
  • Experience with ISO 9001, 13485, and/or GMP 
  • Lean Manufacturing 

Preferred Qualifications

  • SOLIDWORKS and AUTOCAD familiarity
  • Software engineering using Microsoft .Net, C#, WPF, WCF, LINQ, SQL, XML, VBA
  • Database engineering using SQL server
