Contract Duration: 1 Year
The Investment Planning Senior Analyst will develop the risk-based Gas Distribution and Transmission Book of Work — both short and long term operating plan — for the approximately $2.9B Gas Distribution and Transmission organization. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills, and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across functional areas. This position will reside at the Bishop Ranch office complex in San Ramon. In addition to the book of work, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for formulating and maintaining cost models for key programs within the distribution and transmission portfolios. This will require a knowledge and skillset in basic statistics.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Math, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience • Job-related experience, 4 years Desired Qualifications: • Prior utility experience, particularly in Gas Operations • Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics or Business • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint user • Strong communicator and presenter with experience at the Senior Leadership and Executive Leadership level • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of advanced formulas in Microsoft Excel • Experience in Engineering and Project Management • Ability to solve complex analytical problems using quantitative and probabilistic approaches with a unique blend of analytical and mathematical skills • Strong statistical programming experience (e.g., R or Python) • Excellent grasp of fundamentals in statistics and probability • Ability to partner, collaborate, and communicate well with a diverse set of colleagues, both technical and non-technical, at all levels of the organization • Experience with Monte Carlo simulation and Bayesian statistics • Skill in making recommendations based on relevant expertise as needed to perform at the job level • Competency in using compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others • Knowledge of performance management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level • Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems • Competency in creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences • Competency in applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization goals • Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level • Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals • Competency in adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations • Competency in operating effectively, even when things are not certain or the way forward is not clear Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain the long-term investment plan (book of work) for the gas distribution and transmission system • Lead risk-based prioritization scoring sessions with subject matter experts (SMEs) and recommend investment decisions to Gas Operations leadership team • Provide complex investment analysis and recommendations to Gas Operations leadership team on an ad-hoc basis • Support all regulatory filing and reports • Support key initiatives and programs to promote continuous improvement, including PAS 55/ISO 55001 and Gas Stewardship • Formulate and maintain probabilistic cost models for key gas distribution and transmission programs
