Job Location: Painted Post, NY

Duration: 11 Months

Pay Rate: Pays up to $26/hr DOE

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hrs per week


Position Summary

This position is part of Corning’s Environmental Technologies Division Engineering group located at the Erwin plant. This position supports the operation of a small-scale extrusion laboratory whose mission is to provide support for raw material, forming, and tooling evaluations.



·         Execution of experimental plans for division engineering within the Celpro lab

·         Operating batching, mixing, extruding, drying, and rheological measurement equipment

·         Making detailed observations during experimentation

·         Equipment and process troubleshooting

·         Data reporting and data analysis

·         Support of lab maintenance of business activities such as safety, 5s, & supply management

·         Participating on projects to support laboratory improvements



Minimum Qualifications:

·         AS or AAS in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field. Recent college graduates with required degree in Science, Technology, Engineeering
or Mathematics field will be considered.

·         0-5 years of process technician, manufacturing or raw material processing experience

·         Basic proficiency in MS office software including Excel, Word & Power Point

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to learn new techniques and accurately follow standard operating procedures

·         Ability to be respirator certified for special material handling situations

·         Able to physically perform all lab tasks which require bending, reaching, standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds

·         Basic data analysis skills.



·         Technical writing experience (SOP’s, work instructions, safety documents, technical reports)

·         Statistical software proficiency (SPC Excel, Minitab, JMP)

·         Familiarity with DMAIC, KT, Lean, and/or 5S
