Position Title: 2306-California Professional Electrical Engineer - PE required
Location: Northern California, CA

Pay Rate: $65-85/Hour

SCOPE OF WORK AND DUTIES

The Electrical Engineer shall be a Professional Electrical Engineer registered in the State of California and shall have a BS in Electrical Engineering. Under the direction of the company Engineer and Engineering Services Manager, the Hydro Electrical Engineer will be required to provide work on b) Operations Activities and c) WECC/NERC Activities.
 

a.     Operations Activities

  1. Actively work with power Operations and Maintenance to monitor the performance of hydroelectric generators & transformers, electric transmission & distribution assets, switchyards & substations to identify opportunities to improve asset performance and reliability

  2. Troubleshoot system failures by providing technical support, developing root cause analysis, and establishing and finalizing documentation in coordination with site professionals.

  3. Make field inspections of existing structures and sites to determine the necessity for future construction, repair, or maintenance; conduct preliminary field studies and surveys; and collect data relative to the preparation of designs and drawings.

  4.  Perform electrical calculations/studies such as protective relay settings, breaker fault current interrupting ratings, transmission & distribution protection coordination studies, distribution load flow studies, and arc flash analysis. Develop and stamp plans and specifications for assigned projects, instrumentation and controls (I&C) designs, and Station Drawings.

  5.   Review, update and streamline Electrical Engineering processes.

  6.   Coordinate and liaise with engineering consultants and contractors to ensure contracted deliverables meet requirements.

  7.   Perform quality management reviews of internal and externally prepared technical documents.

  8.   Provide Electrical Engineering support to maintenance and capital projects. Prepare and assist in preparing studies, calculations, specifications, designs, drawings, sketches, and plans using AutoCAD or other software tools.

  9.   Communicate clearly and concisely using written and verbal skills. Prepare and assist in preparing reports, contract specifications, materials lists, cost estimates, schedules, and progress payments. Prepare field condition reports, project status reports, and studies.

 b.     WECC/NERC Activities

1)     Work with Operations to ensure compliance with all applicable WECC/NERC standards

2)     Be a subject matter expert for all NERC/WECC PRC standards and actively work to ensure compliance with all applicable PRC standards ncluding, but not limited to, PRC-002, 004, 005, 019, 023, 024, 025, 026 and 027.
