Legal - Regulatory Affairs

Job Description:
Responsible for day-to-day regulatory and trade program activities and provide team support. May solve regulatory issues including researching and providing basic information to internal and external customers. May perform analyses including running reports, collecting information, comparing/contrasting regulations, and entering data. Drive process and system improvements.
Required Skills:
Ability to perform legal research, cite, check and shepardize. Knowledge of computerized information retrieval systems and research systems. Ability to understand and analyze legal issues. Ability to write clearly and concisely. Strong organizational skills and proficiency in record keeping. Proficient with legal terminology. Able to produce basic legal briefs. English and French Language. Desired: Knowledge of regulatory and trade functions. Ability to apply knowledge to solve problems quickly and multitask. Drive corrective action to results. Personal and Business Communication. Information Analysis. Interpersonal and team skills. Problem solving, Meeting deadlines.
Ideally the department is looking for either a paralegal or has a paralegal background. However, please do not limit your candidate search to paralegals. If you have people who have no paralegal experience that you believe would be a good fit.
The candidate should have the following:
Good computer skills. If they have any familiarity with company applications like oracle all the better.
Good analytical skills. Part of the tasks they will be responsible for is to confirm that we have complied with all license conditions which entails culling over information from various sources.
Good communications skills. Tasks involve contacting internal comapny groups such as customer service and sales, as well as external groups such as freight forwarders, logistics centers, federal government agencies, and customers.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Tasks will include reviewing and organizing files for completeness and accuracy. Tasks will also include tracking the status of new license conditions as they are issued.
In addition, they need to be able to manage multiple tasks with limited face to face supervision. The manager telecommutes so with exception of an initial training period, this person won't see much of the manager
Bonus skills (great to have, not required): Familiarity with shipping/logistics procedures; familiarity with u.s. department of commerce procedures; familiarity with export licensing procedures.
