Job Location: San Mateo, CA

Pay rate: $47-48 per hour, W2 only

Duration of Contract: 9 months with possibility of becoming perm

Must be US citizen as this is for the federal government agency.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled individual in a technical role to develop, deploy, and participate in the support of a multitier web application using the Java programming language and J2EE technologies in conjunction with a high-end enterprise database. The ideal candidate is a superb self-starter with outstanding experience and technical depth, excellent productivity, and strong interpersonal skills who can work successfully in a structured and guidelines-driven governmental environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Description:

  • Design and implement a programming framework to provide security, login, look-and-feel standardization and other services to the web application business logic.
  • Design and implement re-usable Java components, such as Java Servlet, Java Bean, EJB and Custom Tags.Design and develop web pages/JSPs in conformance with corporate guidelines.
  • Assume a significant role in database design.
  • Assume a significant role in architecture and implementation of business logic, with particular attention to separation-of-concerns, reusability, and conformance to established design patterns and best practices.
  • Assume a significant role in deployment and maintenance of the application.
  • Assume a significant role in providing for and demonstrating project compliance with internal standards, requirements, and methodologies.
  • Document system internals both for management review and to facilitate handoff of technical responsibility.
    • Mentor fellow team members/programmers.

Job Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 3+ years hands-on paid software development experience in design and coding of Web and Client/Server database applications at a senior level.
  • 4+ years in Java and Object-Oriented software development.
  • Experienced in using J2EE technologies to design and to develop multitier web applications.
  • Experienced in leading technical efforts in systems implementation, with thorough understanding of system development methodology.
  • Experience with IBM Websphere Application Server Version 5 and related tools
  • Experience with Oracle 8i/9i

Skills:

  • Advanced computer programming skills in Java and OO Design.
  • Advanced skills in J2EE technologies, including experience with JSP, Java Servlet, EJB, JNDI, JDBC and JavaMail.
  • Advanced database skills including SQL query construction and optimization, and database design and optimization.
  • Advanced skills in HTML, solid working knowledge of JavaScript and XML.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including written communications.

  • Experience with any/all of: Struts framework, XSLT, XSL-FO
  • Familiarity with use and terminology of design patterns for OOP and J2EE
  • Iplanet and/or TomCat experience
